LanguageOne Abu Dhabi’s curriculum for Dutch-speaking students in secondary education enables admission to Dutch, Flemish and international education and allows students to prepare for Dutch exams.
LanguageOne has developed a new Dutch curriculum that follows the curricular requirements of the International Baccalaureate® (IB), which meets the core objectives of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the Reference Levels for Language. Our approach mainly emphasises learning to use the Dutch language. Your children will carry out meaningful language and culture-related tasks in a way that resonates and connects with their world and that will facilitate possible repatriation to the Netherlands or Flanders.
Our students take 3 hours of themed after-school classes per week at Raha International School, which are provided across so-called units. They also do a homework assignment of at least one hour.
A unit is a set of lessons about a specific theme that will be treated over the course of a number of weeks. The units cover various skills such as reading, writing, speaking and listening, centred around a (cultural) theme. Each unit is rounded off with an assessment.
In practice: Unit ‘We are all migrants’
Our students learn about the differences between people, where everyone is from and what they as human beings represent. The subject of migration is covered, with our students cooperating on various assignments. Your child will research World War II and discuss the subject with classmates.
Once they have acquired a sufficient grasp of the Dutch language, we help our students prepare for the Certificate Dutch as a Foreign Language examination, the IB Diploma Programme Dutch A SSST or Dutch B SL/HL examination.
The school guide (in Dutch) contains detailed information about subjects such as intake and placement, assessment, parent involvement and quality.
The tuition fees for the school year 2018-2019 can be found in our General Terms & Conditions (in Dutch).
Classes take place every Wednesday from 15:30 – 18:30 uur at Raha International School.
