LanguageOne Online’s programme for Dutch-language students in primary education focuses on the language domains of reading, writing, spoken language skills and language usage. Our classes are taught by qualified teachers with experience in the Dutch education system and/or Dutch-language teaching abroad. LanguageOne has developed a new Dutch programme that follows the curricular requirements of the International Baccalaureate® (IB), which meets the core objectives of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the Reference Levels for language.
The classes are richly varied in content. By involving the issues of our time and the international environment in which your children are growing up, we encourage the children to tap into their own linguistic knowledge in order to develop their Dutch-language skills. We use various didactic methods to enhance motivation and the pleasure the children take in learning.
Our students take 2.5 to 3 hours of Dutch classes per week or every two weeks, including a 45-minute Skype class. The Skype class is scheduled at the same time each week. The teacher provides instructions, language and vocabulary exercises, spelling explanations and homework assignments. Your children will receive a task sheet with the schedule for the next three to four weeks. Our cutting-edge learning environment makes it easy for the teacher, students and parents alike to track learning progress.
Our curriculum is supplementary to the education your children receive at day school. By assigning tasks that match your children’s own experiences and environment, we bring out the importance of the Dutch language and Dutch culture. This leads to our students developing an intrinsic motivation to master all language domains.
The school guide (in Dutch) contains detailed information about subjects such as intake and placement, assessment, parent involvement and quality.
