LanguageOne Dubai’s curriculum for Dutch-language students in secondary education enables admission to Dutch, Flemish and international education and preparation for Dutch exams.
LanguageOne has developed a new Dutch educational programme that follows the curricular requirements of the International Baccalaureate® (IB), which meets the core objectives of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the Reference Levels for language. Our approach mainly emphasises learning to use the Dutch language. Your children will carry out meaningful language and culture-related tasks in a way that resonates and connects with their world and that will facilitate possible repatriation to the Netherlands or Flanders.
Our students take 3 hours of themed after-school classes per week at Dubai International Academy, which are distributed across so-called units. They also do a homework assignment of at least one hour. A unit is a set of lessons about a specific theme that will be treated over the course of a number of weeks. The units cover various skills such as reading, writing, speaking and listening, centred around a (cultural) theme. Each unit is rounded off with an assessment.
In practice: Unit ‘We are all migrants’
Our students learn about the differences between people, where everyone is from and what they as human beings represent. The subject of migration is covered, with our students cooperating on various assignments. Your child will research World War II and discuss the subject with classmates.
Once they have acquired a sufficient grasp of Dutch, we help our students prepare for the Certificate Dutch as a Foreign Language examination, the IB Diploma Programme Dutch A SSST or Dutch B SL/HL examination or British A Level examinations. However, A Level examinations will be offered for the last time in the summer of 2018.
The school guide (in Dutch) contains detailed information about subjects such as intake and placement, assessment, parent involvement and quality.
The tuition fees for the school year 2017-2018 can be found in our General Terms & Conditions (in Dutch).
