Dutch Language and Cultural Education (NTC) has become an important part of life in Singapore. More and more families recognize the value of preserving and further developing the Dutch language while also staying connected to Dutch and Flemish culture.
Children growing up in an international environment often learn multiple languages simultaneously. This presents a great opportunity, but it can also be challenging to master one language. At LanguageOne, we help children develop their Dutch skills while continuing to practice their other languages. This way, we support healthy multilingual growth. The lessons take place in the classrooms of the German European School.
At LanguageOne Singapore, children aged 4 to 12 can participate in Dutch Language and Culture Education (NTC).
The curriculum is thematic and inspired by the International Baccalaureate (IB). Students work in units on language and cultural tasks relevant to their experiences. All language skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking—are covered, with an emphasis on active communication and interaction. Each unit concludes with an assessment. In addition, we administer method-independent tests, such as Diatoetsen and AVI, at least once a year.
Students typically follow three hours per week of Dutch Language and Culture education in addition to their regular school. The lessons are offered as an after-school program
Your child can start at LanguageOne at any time. An exception to this is the examination year. You can make an appointment with the location manager for an introductory meeting. During this conversation, we will first determine which group your child will be placed in. The start date for lessons will be determined in consultation with your child’s location manager and/or teacher. An adjusted tuition fee will be charged depending on when you register.
Contact us for more information.
The tuition fees for (part of) a year are stated in our General terms and conditions for our location in Singapore.
For families with three or more children, a 20% discount applies to the tuition fee for the third and each subsequent registered child.
It’s possible to schedule a trial lesson for your child. You can easily request one yourself. The location manager will then contact you to schedule an appointment.

In addition to language lessons, we also devote significant attention to Dutch and Flemish culture at our locations. We do this through recognizable activities and celebrations, such as King’s Day, Children’s Book Week, and Sinterklaas. This way, children experience the language not only in the classroom but also in a meaningful and festive context. This way, they stay connected to the culture, traditions, and stories of their home country.
LanguageOne’s educational programs ensure a smooth transition upon returning to the Netherlands or Belgium. For advice on continuing Dutch Language and Culture education in another country, online education, or choosing a school upon returning to the Netherlands or Belgium, please contact the location manager or teacher. You can also always utilize LanguageOne’s network in the Netherlands.

The German European School Singapore (GESS), in collaboration with LanguageOne, offers an integrated Dutch program for primary and secondary students. Dutch-speaking students at GESS take Dutch lessons several times a week as part of their regular schedule—a wonderful opportunity to give your child an international, European, and Dutch context in Singapore.
In addition, LanguageOne offers Dutch lessons after school in collaboration with GESS. Several groups are available each lesson afternoon, giving students the chance to meet other Dutch-speaking children and making it convenient for parents to drop off and pick up their child.
